Welcome back Jefferson Jets! The first day of school is Wednesday August 5th, 2026. School starts at 7:45 AM Mondays through Thursdays and 7:30 AM on Fridays. See you there!

Before that, we're welcoming our staff back: 194-day staff return on August 3rd, and 192-day staff return on August 4th. We're glad to have you back and ready to make this year a great one for our students.

Due to New Mexico State statutes and New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) requirements, Gallup‑McKinley County Schools (GMCS) students’ last day of school is June 10, 2026.
Jefferson Elementary students are proud to show off their latest classroom additions. Their baby chicks are officially hatching!
Students are learning firsthand about embryo development, incubation, and the hatching process. They are so excited about their new friends!
